    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Participates in the development and implementation of strategies and policies to achieve School of Medicine (SOM) goals and objectives.
    • Manages strategic and business planning processes through research, analysis and maintenance of data and information, preparation of reports and coordination of planning efforts for modified and new programs and services.
    • Provides accurate, timely and consistent information in support of the SOM's planning, policy formation, and decision making.
    • Strategically drives and leads SOM project working groups.
    • Develops detail-oriented qualitative and quantitative analyses to include flow charts, presentations and/or spreadsheets.
    • Performs benchmarking and research on relevant processes and SOM topics.
    • Serves as a liaison with other university schools/divisions.
    • Performs related responsibilities as required.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master's degree and two years of business consulting, process improvement, project management or related experience.
    • Higher education, healthcare and/or consulting experience strongly preferred.
    • Proven strategic planning, project management, and problem solving skills.

    Additional Details

    The role functions as an internal management consultant with experience in strategic planning and/or project management. The successful candidate will demonstrate proven problem solving skills, the ability to gather, analyze, synthesize, and interpret complex quantitative and qualitative data into effective presentations, and translate into information and knowledge. The position requires an individual who is comfortable finding innovative solutions to highly complex problems both independently and within a team environment. The position requires interaction with Leadership from across the School, University, and within Healthcare, so effective communication with senior leaders is required. Recognizing the highly matrixed environment that is academic medicine, the role must be comfortable driving to solutions in ambiguous situations.

     

    The role of the SOM Strategic Initiatives Team is to serve as an internal management consulting resource in support of the Dean’s Office. The team oversees the development of the School’s top strategic priorities, manages ongoing strategic projects, and provides resourcing support for business planning projects. The team also ensures alignment with ongoing efforts within Departments, at the WHSC, the University, and Healthcare.

     

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCES:

     

    Business consulting experience. Experience with strategic planning at complex, matrixed organizations such as academic medicine.
