    JOB DESCRIPTION: The Corporate Director of Communications is responsible for the development and execution of communication strategies across the organization, working with HR partners, executive team members and leaders in various departments to create outstanding communications strategies aimed at informing and engaging our dynamic workforce. This individual leads the strategic internal communications for Emory Healthcare, including communications related to partnerships and growth, employee and physician engagement, leadership communications, crisis matters and human resources. This role plans, directs, manages, coordinates, and monitors activities and operations related to developing, recommending, and implementing internal communications programs and materials, including management of staff and assigned projects. This individual will closely collaborate with Public Relations, Marketing, WHSC Communications and Office of Government and Community Affairs to build and execute the most effective overall communications strategy for Emory Healthcare. The ideal candidate is highly strategic, passionate about engagement, an excellent collaborator and able to work with all levels of staff and leadership across the organization.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     

    Ensure communication vehicles support the Emory Healthcare strategic plan and position Emory as the trusted source, disseminator and conduit of information

     

    Lead and execute complex communications projects, such as acquisitions or other organizational changes, and activate other strategic programs aligned to Emory Healthcare's priorities

     

    Lead communications working groups in the development and execution of internal communications programs such as organizational changes and new or existing program campaigns

     

    Create internal corporate communications such as articles, events, blogs, videos and employee profiles for publication on the corporate intranet and other internal channels

     

    Develop and implement internal communications programs in support of HR and other internal business partners

     

    Develop and compile performance measures to evaluate impact of communications activities

     

    Present recommendations to senior leaders on communication plans and operations

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Seven years of communications experience, including employee communications, in a supervisory or managerial capacity with demonstrated experience leveraging communication tools to support key strategic initiatives. Demonstrated writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences. Excellent communication and organizational skills, superb consulting skills with the proven ability to counsel senior leaders and build relationships throughout the organization. Strong project management skills and attention to detail. Must be able to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously. Knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media. Self-directed with high energy and a positive approach to management. Undergraduate degree in communications, English, journalism or a related field.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (MediumMax 25lbs): up to 25 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 25 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work  tasks.

     

    ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
