The Section Administrator oversees and manages the operational, financial, and strategic functions of a division within a section and clinic practices within Emory Healthcare and Emory University School of Medicine.

The Section Administrator plays a key leadership role in advancing departmental goals, optimizing resources, ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and staff development and acts as liaison between clinical, academic, and administrative entities to facilitate coordination and communication.

May be responsible for activities associated with multiple clinic locations and at least one health system partner (Ex. Grady Health System, or Atlanta VA Medical Center).

Has responsibility for both the academic and clinical missions of the unit.

Serves as an autonomous leader with departmental decision-making authority, including overall budget development and leadership presentation and responsibility, including grant funding.

Reporting to a VP/Executive Administrator or SVP within the Ambulatory practices of Emory Healthcare, works closely with Department Chair or Division Chief to provide strategic direction and planning for to achieve business outcomes.

Operational Leadership:

1. Oversee daily operations of multiple clinics or regional units, ensuring efficient workflow, quality of service, and compliance with organizational standards
2. Serve as a representative of management in various forums, conveying strategic direction and performance updates
3. Coordinate technology infrastructure, medical records, and clinical systems within clinics and practices

Financial Management:

1. Develop, monitor, and analyze budgets for departments, including capital equipment and personnel costs
2. Ensure clinical revenue growth while controlling expenses and take corrective actions as needed
3. Manage contract compliance for outsourced services such as housekeeping, pharmacy, security, and biomedical services

Regulatory and Compliance Oversight:

1. Ensure clinic and office facilities comply with safety standards, JCAHO, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
2. Maintain accurate records and implement auditing procedures to ensure compliance

Staffing and Human Resources:

1. Supervise and evaluate staff performance; provide ongoing feedback, training, and development opportunities
2. Implement staff orientation, safety, infection control, and core training programs
3. Develop initiatives to enhance team skills and departmental effectiveness

Strategic Planning and Program Development:

1. Collaborate with department leadership to set goals, develop new programs, and improve existing clinical services
2. Lead efforts to grow departmental clinical services and meet evolving healthcare demands
3. Manage grants, contracts, and coordinate with academic and clinical partners

Data Analysis and Reporting:

1. Collect, organize, and analyze operational and financial data; generate reports for management and regulatory agencies
2. Use data insights to inform strategic decisions and operational improvements

Quality and Safety:

1. Monitor service levels and quality performance metrics
2. Ensure safety protocols and infection control standards are maintained throughout the facilities

Other Duties: Perform related responsibilities as needed to support organizational objectives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, healthcare administration, or related field required. Will consider higher level of education in lieu of experience (e.g., Master's + 5 years)
• Minimum of seven (7) years healthcare-related experience (with Bachelor's)
• Minimum requirement of three (3) years supervisory/manager experience
• Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets, contracts, and revenue growth strategies
• Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising multidisciplinary teams
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, safety standards, and accreditation processes
• Excellent communication, strategic planning, and organizational skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree
• Experience in ambulatory setting
