Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Supports the overall day-to-day operations of a defined area within a Section of The Emory Clinic. Coordinates activities to maintain an effective operating environment and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. In conjunction with Section leadership, is accountable for activities that enhance operational efficiencies, improve patient satisfaction, and result in cost-effective healthcare solutions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Operations & Performance

  • Coordinates activities within the Section to maintain an effective operating environment
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines
  • Helps evaluate Section operations and makes suggestions for improvements
  • Supports achievement of Section performance targets and financial goals
  • Partners with Section leadership on initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies and cost-effective healthcare solutions
  • Performs other related duties as required

Equipment & Supplies

  • Coordinates purchase of medical and office supplies and capital equipment necessary for the practice
  • Establishes and maintains an inventory system to ensure adequate supply and equipment levels
  • Establishes and administers a maintenance program for office and medical equipment to ensure timely repairs and proper functioning

Patient Care & Advocacy

  • Manages daily operations to ensure the Section provides quality patient care
  • Communicates with patients, families, and/or physicians as requested or needed
  • Implements initiatives to improve patient satisfaction

Reporting & Data Management

  • Prepares operational reports and analysis to report progress and adverse trends, and makes appropriate recommendations or conclusions
  • Administers submission of timely, accurate, and complete billing information to the business office for maximum reimbursement
  • Researches disallowance reports for unusual practices
  • Stays current on coding and insurance practices; interacts with internal departments to update, change, or delete codes and charges when ineffective, unprofitable, and/or obsolete

Professional Development

  • Works with manager to formulate a professional development plan
  • Attends educational in-services as appropriate
  • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required. 2-4 years healthcare, business, or administrative experience required; preferably in an ambulatory setting. A Master's degree in related field may be substituted for 2 years of experience OR Graduation from the Operations Development Program (ODP). Other equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be considered. Master's degree or EHC administrative fellowship in lieu of experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1-10 lbs 0-33% of the work day (occasionally), negligible 34-66% of the workday (frequently), negligible 67-100% of the workday (constantly). Lifting 10 lbs max, carrying of small articles such as dockets, ledgers, files, small tools, occasional standing & walking, frequent sitting, close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste. chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting patient care/handling injuries, radiation, shift work, travel may be required, use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
