Description
Provide high quality patient care, displaying good skills in psychiatric counseling. Provide group therapy, individual counseling, family and marriage counseling, and discharge planning. Function as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Provide diagnostic evaluations and interpret complex psychosocial factors for a variety of psychiatric and addiction patients. Relate accepted theories of psychiatry/psychology to practice situations. Assess the particular needs of psychiatric and addiction patients and their families when appropriate to the patient's treatment. Assess conflicts and problems leading to complaints and symptoms that bring individuals to inpatient/outpatient psychiatric/addiction treatment. Provide emergency assessment of potential patients in need of inpatient hospitalization or other appropriate alternatives. Conduct assigned groups and therapy sessions with patients and/or their families and documents per policy. Make referrals to aftercare group therapy for former patients. May conduct therapy sessions for Partial Hospitalization Day or evening program or evening Aftercare groups. Ensure that clear treatment plans are concisely written in the patient charts. Write follow-up progress notes on each patient chart at the completion of each activity or therapeutic exchange as observed, case annotations and entries. Complete all program discharge and aftercare document forms on or before discharge date. Requires instruction only in highly complex, new or specialized methods or procedures. Perform work at an advanced, specialized and independent level. Maintain confidentiality of department and employee information according to established procedures with no breaches and/or errors. Ensure the security of the department files at the end of each workday to protect confidential information. Participate in team staffing on a daily basis. Make team aware of pertinent information gleaned from interaction with patients and/or their families.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education / Experience: Master's degree in Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or related field and one (1) year of experience as a Therapist, Counseling Intern, Intake Counselor or related role where required experience gained.
Licensure: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) or License Eligible. Licensure must be received within 90 days of employment.
Certification: BLS certification.
Completion of a comprehensive internship in a psychiatric setting as part of degree program.
HOURS: Monday – 9am – 8:30pm
Tuesday – 9am – 4:30pm
Wednesday – 9am – 8:30pm
Thursday – 9am – 8:30pm
