Description

We are looking for a working Manager role that extends beyond infrastructure and operating system support to include hands‑on leadership of enterprise application engineering, Salesforce and MuleSoft‑based system integration, and DevOps delivery. The role requires a leader who can directly contribute to and oversee API‑driven integrations, cloud‑based applications, and CI/CD pipelines, while ensuring production readiness, operational stability, and alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards. The ideal candidate combines hands on engineering, people leadership, architectural judgment, and active technical leadership in a complex, mission‑critical environment.  Please reference our preferred qualifications summary below to learn core skills being sought for this opening.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hands-On Engineering (@50%):
  • API & Integration Engineering: Design, develop, and implement complex MuleSoft-based integration solutions using Anypoint Platform (Design Center, API Manager, Runtime Manager), ensuring API-led connectivity and reusability.
  • Salesforce Engineering: Act as a hands-on expert for Salesforce production support, customization, and integration, handling data mapping, transformation, and complex troubleshooting.
  • Cloud-Native Development: Lead full-stack development projects using Java and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) to build, deploy, and support scalable cloud applications.

People Management & Leadership (@20%):
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of application engineers, developers, and integration specialists, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous learning, weekly touch points with team members and leadership, etc.
  • Resource Management: Hire, onboard, and develop top talent; conduct performance reviews, set goals, and manage workload/capacity.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to align application delivery with business requirements and security standards.

DevOps & Production Operations (@10%):
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management: Oversight over DevOps/CI-CD pipelines (Git, Maven) that are utilized to automate build, test, and deployment processes, increasing release frequency and reliability.
  • Production Readiness & Stability: Ensure 24x7 operational stability of all integrated platforms, managing incident resolution, monitoring, alerting, and logging (Observability Platforms).
  • System Modernization: Drive initiatives to modernize legacy application integration points into cloud-native, API-driven architectures.

Technical Leadership (@10%):
  • Oversight:  Serve as a champion of improvement -- our team has an established charter, standards of documentation, standards for deployments, standards for integration, standards for nomenclature, and many other documented SOPs in place that are followed. This individual will add Mulesoft standards.
  • Cloud-Native Development: Lead full-stack development projects using Java and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) to build, deploy, and support scalable cloud applications.
  • Technical Architecture: Partner with architects to define and enforce technical standards, best practices for REST/SOAP/GraphQL web services, and data transformation techniques (XML/JSON).

Strategic Planning & Governance (@10%):
  • Technical Roadmap: Evolve technology capabilities to improve scalability, reliability, and delivery speed, contributing to long-term architectural strategy. Manage roadmap documentation.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement, monitor, and report on key performance metrics (KPIs) to optimize resource utilization and maximize team effectiveness.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience leading enterprise application development and integration teams (not limited to systems or infrastructure).
  • Partners closely with application architects, developers, infrastructure, security, and business stakeholders to deliver end-to-end application and integration solutions.
  • Hands‑on technical leadership in application architecture, system integration, and production problem resolution.
  • Demonstrated experience with full stack development, cloud‑native application delivery and DevOps/CI‑CD practices.
  • Proficiency in version control systems like Git, CI/CD practices and tools, build tools such as Maven, and database integration techniques.
  • Proficiency in XML, JSON, and other data formats; strong understanding of SOAP, RESTful, and GraphQL web services.
    • Experience with Java and Java-related technologies; knowledge of containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Expertise in MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and its components (API Manager, Runtime Manager, Design Center) with hands-on experience designing, developing, and implementing MuleSoft-based integration solutions, including APIs, data mappings, and transformations.
    • Direct experience with Salesforce in a production environment.
    • Ability to ensure operational readiness and stability of application and integration platforms in a 24x7 environment.
    • Proven ability to balance people leadership with direct technical contribution.
    • Progressive experience with modernizing technology and evolving capabilities to improve scalability, reliability, and delivery speed.
Bonus Material:
  • MuleSoft certification(s) or advanced Salesforce integration experience.
  • Experience supporting healthcare systems and integrations (e.g., Epic).
  • Familiarity with observability platforms (monitoring, logging, alerting).
  • Background transitioning from senior engineer or architect into management.
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications or integrations into cloud‑based architectures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science.
  • Seven years of experience which includes designing and implementing highly complex systems on multiple platforms.
