Description

Overview:

Primary Function The Manager of Advanced Scheduling Design is responsible for providing oversight and guidance over decision tree construction, ensuring that decision tree tools use advanced scheduling logic and cutting-edge Epic technology. This role focuses on improving scheduling accuracy, reducing errors, and enhancing the overall quality of scheduling logic for the outpatient PGP divisions. This position provides knowledge and training to the Senior Architect team who are Epic Cadence-certified on advanced scheduling features, including scheduling pools, advanced scheduling rules, decision tree tagging, and visit type modes. The manager collaborates with IS teams, digital teams, and Emory PGP practice partners to implement innovative scheduling solutions and achieve Patient Access operating objectives.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of Scheduling Design & Decision Tree Tools: Ensure that the Senior Architect team designs and implements efficient, accurate decision trees and advanced scheduling tools.
  • Monitor and manage team performance on technical build and scheduling logic design.
  • Strategic Resource Allocation & Leadership: Assign resources to meet strategic objectives and align with the Assistant Director and Access leadership.
  • Provide guidance and oversight on scheduling design projects to meet organizational goals.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with Emory PGP practice partners to identify and resolve scheduling challenges through innovative design.
  • Build relationships with IS teams to troubleshoot and streamline scheduling processes.
  • Epic Technology Integration: Stay updated on Epic's innovative scheduling concepts and apply them strategically to improve scheduling products.
  • Ensure the integration of advanced scheduling logic, including scheduling pools, decision tree tagging, and visit type modes.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing: Provide training on new Epic scheduling concepts to the Senior Architect team.
  • Develop and deliver hands-on training materials to reinforce scheduling standards and best practices.
  • System-Wide Project Representation: Represent the Capacity Management team in advanced design testing and system-wide Epic project implementation.
  • Provide leadership and accountability for IT overhauls and advanced scheduling design improvements.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Capacity Management or scheduling design.
  • 1+ year of management experience.
  • Knowledge of Epic software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Lucidchart.

Preferred Qualifications Education:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in Capacity Management or scheduling design.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • Key Competencies & Skills Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Epic scheduling software and design principles.
  • Project Management: Ability to lead and implement complex scheduling projects.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with technical and clinical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Aptitude for identifying and resolving complex scheduling challenges.
  • Training & Development: Skilled in developing and delivering effective training programs for advanced scheduling logic.
