Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the review, recommendation, approval, and notification processes for credentialing activities.
  • Identifies, investigates, presents findings, and assists in resolving potential credentialing issues.
  • Facilitates the clinical privileging process.
  • Serves as a resource concerning legal issues/requirements and pertinent regulatory standards.
  • Manages designated committee, department, or medical staff meetings and ensures appropriate follow-up occurs.
  • Actively participates in accreditation surveys that include review of practitioner credentials, related policies, and medical staff documents.
  • Participates in the development and administration of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the maintenance of required record-keeping and documentation.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMMS) certification as a CMSC (medical staff services coordinator), CPCS (certified provider credentialing specialist.), or CPC (certified professional coder).
  • Must maintain active certification.
  • Four years recent experience (within the last five years) in medical staff services/credentialing.
  • A working knowledge of accreditation standards, state and federal regulations, and applicable medical/legal issues (judicial review process).
