Description

We are seeking an Informatics Business Analyst II for our Public Health and Population Health Informatics team, who will aid in advancing Emory’s digital strategy for innovation in public health and population health informatics.  The main focus of this role will be tied to Population Health Informatics, but will also play a role on some Public Health initiatives.  This role will involve supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of public health and population health informatics initiatives. It plays a critical role in bridging the gap between complex data processes and diverse groups within and outside Emory.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the management of projects related to population health informatics, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Track project progress, prepare status reports and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, including internal team meetings, cross-departmental meetings and external partner engagements.
  • Prepare agendas, take minutes and follow up on action items.
  • Collaborate across technical and non-technical teams to gather requirements, ensure that requirements are correctly understood by developers, ensure user training needs are met and help guide change management.
  • Conduct gap analyses and needs assessments to identify areas for technology-supported improvements for Emory’s population health efforts and public health programs.
  • Support the implementation and integration of technology tools and solutions that enhance public health informatics capabilities and improve the clinical workflow.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in public health and population health informatics.
  • Stay up to date on and support Emory’s participation in evolution of national governmental policy and regulation.
  • Support efforts to secure funding opportunities for public health informatics, including proposal and grant writing.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Epic Population Health (Healthy Planet) certification or experience
  • Knowledge of public health informatics concepts, such as technology standards (ICD-10, LOINC), surveillance systems and registries.
  • Familiarity with clinical care workflows and electronic health records.
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to health care data transfer, privacy (HIPAA) and compliance.
  • Experience driving policy discussions and advocating for data needs within the health care sector.
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Creative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Clinical or public health experience preferred.
  • Experience in technology training, IT communications and/or change management is a plus.
  • Atlanta based candidate preferred.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION: - Requires a Bachelors or Associates Degree in informatics, IT (Information Technology), business, healthcare (e.g. nursing, respiratory) or a related field. -
  • Completion of Epic certification and/or badges in clinical or business focus area within the first 12 months of hire or longer with Sr. Manager approval.
  • With a Bachelors Degree: 4 years of experience in data analysis, project coordination, and collaboration with clinical, financial, and technical teams.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical application assessment and workflow design is required with the ability to successfully tie clinical workflows to financial impact.
  • With an Associates Degree: at least 6 years of the above experience is required.
  • JUDGEMENT: The applicant should be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and effectively facilitate multiple clinical groups.
  • They should also have the skill to assess and present new innovative ideas, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
