Description

This Business Intelligence Developer (BID) III will be a part of our Epic Cogito Data Engineering team.  The person hired onto this team will be responsible for the design, creation and maintenance of Clarity based SSIS extracts and Caboodle DMCs; administration of Epic Cogito reporting tools; security and access related to the Cogito application; and the successful ETL of data from Chronicles to Clarity and Caboodle.  The team also works closely with Emory Business Intelligence Development groups to democratize Epic data while ensuring optimal performance of the Cogito platform.  Providing this support is a critical focus that strengthens Emory's data and analytics functions and fortifies the analytics community.  This support includes reviewing SQL code and providing useful insights related to accuracy and optimization.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all stages of the business intelligence development lifecycle: understanding the business objective; collecting business requirements and translating them into data requirements; designing and developing data extracts, reports or dashboards; scheduling and deployment of business intelligence components in accordance with best practices; and completing accurate and timely documentation. 
  • Collaborates with business and technology departments to understand system data and its use, data analysis and validation, and provides support around the data and how it is integrated.  

 

Skills & Qualifications:

 

Technical Skills: Strong SQL development skills, including creation and alteration of Stored Procedures. Candidate should be able to write efficient SQL queries and should be able to identify opportunities to optimize SQL code. Experience with SSIS and SQL Server Agent is preferred.

 

Epic Cogito Expertise: Proficiency in using Epic's Cogito platform and tools is critical. Candidate must have a Clarity Data Model certification or accreditation. Additional certifications/accreditations in Cogito Tools Administration or Caboodle Development are preferred, Epic Security cert is a huge bonus. Experience with Slicer Dicer, Cogito SQL, Security, Nova Notes, Orion and Sherlock preferred.

 

Healthcare Data Knowledge: A deep understanding of clinical and operational data, healthcare workflows, and how data supports decision-making is critical.

 

Analytical & Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex data challenges.

 

Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Expert interpersonal skills to interact positively and productively with teams across organizational lines.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major course work in computer science, Information Technology, engineering, or equivalent related experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in application systems/administration OR 7 years of experience without a degree.
  • Prefer proficiency in at least two scripting languages used currently in production.
  • Must be able to lead, engage and mentor others to achieve a very high level of application systems availability and integration.
  • Must have good business skills.
  • Must be able to lead problem solving efforts when mission critical systems are interrupted.
