The Citrix Virtualization Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining Emory Healthcare’s large scale enterprise and cloud environment of virtual application and desktop infrastructure, primarily Citrix, with ongoing expansion into platforms such as Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). This position performs routine maintenance, monitors system health, assists with infrastructure upgrades, and contributes to platform-related projects that ensure virtual environment stability. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in enterprise environment Citrix virtualization support, works well within a team, and follows guidance and procedures established by senior engineers. This is a mid level engineering role. This is not a lead or highly autonomous role, but one that values dependability and collaboration. Candidates must be based in Georgia and able to report to our Northlake location as needed. You will be joining a team the supports 7,000 servers across 120 silos! Take part in an exciting time at Emory as we actively transition to Azure. As part of that, we’ve begun shifting to Citrix MCS for provisioning, using Terraform to deploy servers and Packer to build images at boot. We’re also leveraging the Citrix DaaS control plane, cutting edge technologies to dive into!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for managing and maintaining Citrix virtual application and desktop systems for both enterprise and cloud-virtualized environments.
- Ensure server systems are secure, stable, and highly available.
- Proficient with enterprise server management tools and basic scripting and automation.
- Participate in the planning, deployment, and ongoing support for enterprise virtual server infrastructure and/or virtual application delivery.
- Possess virtualization technology experience in Citrix virtual application and desktop systems, VMware, Hyper-V, cloud virtualization platforms, or other such solutions.
- This role requires a blend of technical skills, collaboration, and an understanding of how virtualized infrastructure systems interact.
- Includes after-hours maintenance and on-call rotations to support critical tier 1 systems.
- Work with cross-functional teams for capacity planning, focusing on future scalability and resource optimization across all environments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Large scale enterprise and cloud Citrix Engineering experience on both virtual apps and desktop.
- Citrix certifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline and three years of Infrastructure server virtualization experience OR seven years of Infrastructure server virtualization experience.
