Description

Overview:

  • The Associate Director, Data Integrity leads enterprise-wide efforts to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and security of patient health information within Emory Healthcare's Epic electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • This strategic role supports the delivery of exceptional patient care and operational efficiency by developing and implementing robust data integrity policies, managing patient identity resolution, and overseeing chart corrections and Epic record merges.
  • The position collaborates with clinical, operational, and IT teams to support compliance with regulatory standards such as HIPAA and CMS, while also contributing to system-wide data governance and training initiatives.
  • By driving continuous quality improvement and innovation in health information management, this role plays a critical part in achieving departmental and organizational objectives.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction for the Data Integrity team in alignment with Emory Healthcare's enterprise goals and compliance standards. Lead innovation in identity resolution and chart correction processes.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the timely resolution of Epic data integrity queues and the implementation of policies, procedures, and quality control frameworks.
  • Leadership Management: Supervise and mentor a team responsible for identity management, chart corrections, and Epic merges.
  • Foster staff engagement and professional development.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, The Joint Commission, and other federal/state healthcare privacy regulations.
  • Participate in governance forums to shape system-wide compliance efforts.
  • Data Analytics and Reporting: Analyze trends in data integrity performance and prepare executive-level reports to support decision-making and risk reduction.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Act as a subject matter expert across clinical, revenue cycle, IT, and compliance teams. Drive collaborative solutions to complex data challenges.
  • Education and training: Develop and deliver training on Epic functionality, regulatory updates, and best practices in data management and integrity.

Travel: Less than 10% of the time may be required.

Work Type: Remote employee - Works from locations outside traditional office, often from home or another remote setting.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or a related field Experience 
  • 10 years minimum experience with at least 4 years in a management position.
  • Experience with Epic and OnBase systems

Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required):

  • Experience using Epic for electronic medical records and clinical workflows.
  • Proficiency with OnBase for document management and administrative processes.
