Description

This position is responsible for the financial reporting related to grants and gifts both spending and receiving for purposes of Emory Healthcare and works closely with Emory University to align reports and expenditures associated with gifts received.

 

Coordinates review and corrections of account balances and maintains proper accounting controls and procedures. Advises management of budget and funding status and makes recommendations for resolving funding issues. Analyzes monthly financial performance relative to budget and prior periods; documents variances in a narrative format that concisely and accurately describes the situation.

 

Assists in year-end audits; provides detailed schedules and analysis to support financial statements. Reviews current control procedures and assists in the development of new procedures to improve internal control measures.

 

Develops responses to address the impact of changes in accounting standards. Makes recommendations to improve efficiency of reporting practices.

 

Manages relationships with Emory financial partners to include the Controller's Office, hospital and operating unit business, research administration and advancement offices. Collaborates with various teams to develop and enhance technology plans and strategies for continuous improvement in workflow, process efficiencies, and best practices.

 

Provides technical support, guidance and direction for the development, implementation and maintenance of complex operational projects. Supports senior management with budgeting and resource planning. Produces monthly financial reports to management.

 

 

Reviews, analyzes and maintains the financial aspects of gift and grant agreements and sponsored research proposals and the resulting contracts, grants, endowments, or cooperative agreements to ensure compliance. Develops and implements procedures consistent with established policies. Reviews, revises, and communicates guidelines to ensure compliance. Analyzes current policies and procedures and assesses effectiveness.

 

Manages special projects; coordinates the preparation of special impact studies and other financial surveys and questionnaires. Identifies, develops, and implements methods for improving reporting efficiency. Collaborates on reporting requirements; maintains compliance with all regulations.

 

Applies federal, state, or contractual requirements to the University setting. Consults with department heads, provides guidance, and makes recommendations to assist them in designing and establishing procedures. Train others on cost accounting and design of management reports. Performs related responsibilities as required.

 

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • Reconciliation of the monthly gift report(s), in collaboration with Advancement and Alumni Engagement
  • Leads Emory Healthcare gift account creation process
  • Produce data and information for reporting
  • With Advancement and Alumni Engagement, monitor fund utilization, create analyses and tracking.
  • Communicate and educate operators and financial directors across Emory Healthcare about philanthropic gift accounts and restrictions.
  • Support the operational and financial needs of fund consolidation, dissolution, or reallocation.
  • Supports grant reporting with the Research Administration offices of Emory University
  • Endowment analysis and usage tracking
  • Account creates and accounting needs
  • Historical research, analysis, and explaining
  • Chasing down PIs for report narratives
  • Understands fund purpose/restriction and can help determine how funds can be used.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field with 2 years directly related experience.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of charitable gift rules and the importance of spending gift funds and stewardship.
  • Knowledge of grant processes and requirements
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with Development Officers, Financial Administrative, and Operational points of contact
