Description

TRANSPORTER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transports patients, records, specimens and equipment to designated areas throughout the organization.
  • Responds immediately to emergency patient situations; initiates emergency life-saving techniques such as CPR and crisis management.
  • Maintains lifesaving certifications. Transfers patients to and from wheelchairs, beds and diagnostic equipment with minimal disruption to patient.
  • May be required to use patient tracking and information system to receive, record, dispatch, respond to and complete patient transport requests.
  • Works regularly with patients, providers, nursing teams on hospital units, imaging services technologists and nurses and is a critical component to ensuring patients have a positive experience with Emory Healthcare.
  • Individuals in Radiology are required to complete MRI Safety training and follow safety measures when transporting patients to and from MRI, and use MRI compatible equipment.
  • Must complete additional training upon hiring as related to appropriate PPE use, patient moving techniques, patient equipment care training for telemetry boxes, IV pumps, oxygen tanks and more. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some areas will prefer BLS certification upon hiring. Others will provide training post hire.
  • The ability to lift 75 pounds.



Lead, Patient Transporter

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Specific: This position is responsible for coordinating the flow and dispatch processes to transport all inpatients to and from the department for their imaging.
  • Coordinates the patient tracking and information system in collaboration with the dispatch command center to receive, record, dispatch, respond to and complete patient transport requests.
  • Must be able to multitask and manage numerous patient transport requests at once and prioritize requests based on patient and department need.
  • Works with operational and clinical teams on a daily basis to ensure metrics for turnaround time and volume are being met and managed.
  • Meets with operations leadership regularly to provide input and participate in process improvement projects, new hire onboarding and training, advocate on behalf of the transportation team, assist with staff meetings and the weekly scheduling of staff shifts, equipment needs and more.
  • Responds immediately to emergency patient situations; initiates emergency life-saving techniques such as CPR using high quality resuscitation Basic Life Support.
  • Individuals in Radiology are required to complete MRI Safety training and follow safety measures when transporting patients to and from MRI, and have knowledge of proper use of MRI compatible equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The ability to lift, push and pull 75 pounds.
  • BLS certification upon hiring
