Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the chief research informatics officer (CRIO) in directing and overseeing all phases of the information systems.
  • May operate as a leader in developing and implementing technology strategies and standards.
  • Assists with information systems activities, including analysis, design, programming, installation, and operations.
  • Accountable for the development of intermediate and long-range plans for Emory Healthcare. Confers with department heads on proposed projects to ensure appropriate definition of project nature and scope.
  • Leadership and Management: 
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for research informatics that aligns with the center's overall research and clinical goals.
  • Lead the research informatics team, setting clear objectives and measuring progress to ensure alignment with the center's mission.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging the exploration of new tools and techniques to advance research capabilities. Lead and mentor the research informatics team, promoting professional development and excellence.
  • Manage resources and budgets effectively to support the strategic goals of the research informatics unit.
  • Research Informatics:
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of informatics systems and tools that support the research community, including clinical trials management systems, electronic health records, and data repositories. 
  • Ensure the interoperability of research systems with clinical and administrative systems to facilitate integrated care and research.
  • Engage and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of research data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies related to research data, including HIPAA and IRB requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Act as a liaison between the research community, IT department, and external partners to ensure the research informatics needs are effectively met. 
  • Provide expert guidance and support to researchers in utilizing informatics tools and methodologies to enhance their research projects.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in research informatics and evaluate their applicability to the center's research objectives.
  • Travel: Less than 10% of the time may be required but travel to across OUs Work Type: Hybrid employee - splits time between working remotely and working in the office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education - Master's degree in an information technology, engineering, research, or data science field Experience - Experience in research or a university healthcare setting


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in an information technology, engineering, research, or data science field
  • Experience - At least 10 years of experience in an information technology or data science field and 5 years of experience in a management position
