The ServiceNow Developer is responsible for development and configuration within the ServiceNow suite of capabilities with a focus on ITSM and SPM. The developer will work with technical and business stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver solutions that improve efficiency and user experience. The developer will also use best practices and agile methodologies to ensure high-quality code and documentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy ITSM and SPM applications and modules on the ServiceNow platform using best practices and agile methodologies.
- Configure and enhance ServiceNow ITSM and SPM applications using out-of-box functionality as a strong guiding principle.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and validate requirements, and provide solutions that align with the business objectives and ServiceNow platform strategy.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the performance, functionality, and security of ServiceNow applications, modules, and forms. Implement preventive measures to avoid future incidents.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and support staff.
- Stay updated on the latest features and developments of the ServiceNow platform and incorporate them into existing and new solutions, following ServiceNow best practices and standards.
- Document the design, development, testing, and deployment processes for ServiceNow applications and modules, and maintain the configuration management and version control of the code and scripts.
- Provide design, planning, development, testing, and implementation support for ServiceNow applications.
- Advise where out-of-box functionality can achieve a desired outcome in lieu of customization.
- Provide feedback to stakeholders regarding solutions that align with designed ServiceNow capabilities.
- Provide high-level estimations and guidance for breakdown of work into features, epics, and stories, including identifying the need for technical spikes.
- Create working demos and prototypes as necessary, prior to full deployment.
- Review existing implementations and provide recommendations and support for design changes to enhance platform operations and performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major course work in computer science, Information Technology, engineering, or equivalent related experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in application systems/administration OR 7 years of experience without a degree.
- Prefer proficiency in at least two scripting languages used currently in production.
- Must be able to lead, engage and mentor others to achieve a very high level of application systems availability and integration.
- Must have good business skills.
- Must be able to lead problem solving efforts when mission critical systems are interrupted.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- A CSA (Certified System Administrator) certification from ServiceNow.
- At least 5 years of experience in developing solutions on the ServiceNow platform, with broad exposure to different modules and applications.
- Strong knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) and Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM)
- Experience with ServiceNow modules including Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, and Service Catalog, as well as Demand Management
- Ability to design and implement ServiceNow solutions to meet business requirements
- Understanding of ServiceNow integration technologies (REST, SOAP, etc.)
- Understanding of SDLC and agile software development practices
- Experience with scripting in ServiceNow (Business Rules, UI Pages, UI Macros, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of ServiceNow scripting languages, such as JavaScript, AngularJS, HTML, CSS, XML, and JSON.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- A strong team player and collaborator mindset, with a willingness to share knowledge and learn from others.
