The Vice President of Communications and Public Relations at Emory Healthcare will lead and elevate our internal, external, executive, and patient communications efforts. This strategic executive role will oversee all aspects of communication, ensuring alignment with Emory Healthcare's mission, vision, and goals.
The Vice President will work closely with senior leadership to drive initiatives that enhance our brand, engage our workforce, foster transparency, and deliver compassionate, clear messaging to patients, the media, and the community.
Internal Communications:
1. Lead the development and execution of internal communication strategies that align with Emory Healthcare's mission, values, and strategic priorities
2. Ensure effective communication across all levels of the organization, promoting employee engagement, alignment with leadership, and a shared sense of purpose
3. Partner with leadership to communicate organizational changes, strategic initiatives, and other important updates to staff across Emory Healthcare
4. Foster an open, transparent, and inclusive internal communication culture to enhance employee morale and collaboration
5. Oversee internal channels such as intranet, newsletters, town halls, and leadership communications to ensure information is timely, accurate, and accessible
External Communications:
1. Serve as Emory Healthcare's primary external spokesperson, cultivating and maintaining relationships with local and national media outlets, industry leaders, and key community stakeholders
2. Develop and lead strategic public relations campaigns that enhance the organization's reputation and highlight its achievements in patient care, research, and community service
3. Oversee the creation of press releases, media advisories, public statements, and other external communications to ensure the organization is accurately represented in the media 4. Lead crisis communications efforts, including media response and internal coordination, to effectively manage and mitigate any issues or reputation risks
5. Ensure consistent and compelling messaging that reinforces Emory Healthcare's position as a leader in healthcare innovation, education, and patient care
Executive Communications:
1. Advise Emory Healthcare's executive leadership team, including the CEO, on key messaging, speechwriting, and presentation preparation
2. Develop high-quality communications materials, including speeches, talking points, op-eds, and strategic messaging for media interviews and public appearances
3. Ensure all executive communications reflect Emory Healthcare's mission, vision, and values while fostering transparency, trust, and engagement with key stakeholders
4. Collaborate with senior leaders on critical communications, such as quarterly reports, board presentations, and institutional announcements
Patient Communications:
1. Lead the creation and execution of patient-focused communication strategies to enhance patient engagement, experience, and satisfaction at every touchpoint
2. Collaborate with clinical teams and patient services to develop informative and compassionate messaging for patients and their families, ensuring they are well-informed and supported throughout their care journey
3. Oversee the development of patient education materials, digital communications, and resources that help patients better understand treatment options, clinical trials, and health management strategies
4. Ensure patient communications are compliant with HIPAA and other healthcare privacy regulations, prioritizing confidentiality and the protection of patient information
5. Monitor patient feedback and healthcare trends to adapt communication strategies and improve patient outcomes and satisfaction
