Description

We're seeking a Systems Support Manager to plan, direct, manage, coordinate, monitor, and lead the Systems Support Team in providing systems programming and administration.This team supports a variety of operating systems including UNIX AIX, Solaris, MVS, VMS, NT and Novell. This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Develops departmental short and long term goals and objectives.
  • Meets with other staff members to discuss progress and to develop future courses of action.
  • Analyzes departmental strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and constraints.
  • Establishes, revises, administers and communicates policies, procedures and related forms in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines.
  • Communicates and monitors compliance with regulatory, licensing and accreditation standards.
  • Manages staff and employee performance. Resolves Human resourcerelated issues, determines staffing needs, interviews and hires staff.
  • Provides on-going performance feedback, addresses problems, orients and trains employees, verifies competency and identifies and suggests ways to develop skills.
  • Determines disciplinary, termination and salary actions. Monitors workflow.
  • Supervises 25 professional staff and administers a budget of approximately $1.2 million.
  • Plans, develops, administers and monitors the department's capital equipment, operations, and personnel budgets.
  • Regularly reviews year to date expenditures; investigates variances and takes corrective action as necessary.
  • Responsible for support of data management systems supporting organization goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for maintenance of data analysis and reporting systems for the organization.
  • Responsible for developing trend analysis and reports to facilitate planning and strategies.
  • Participates in the planning and supervision of computer software enhancements and operations.
  • Meets regularly with other members of the data processing staff to identify problems and discuss action to be taken to improve upon the efficiency of systems operation.
  • Coordinates and directs the resolution of system problems. Develops and maintains operating procedures, user instructions, and systems policies to ensure that systems capabilities and changes are easily understood and followed by users.
  • Prepares standard and ad-hoc reports and determines user's needs. Provides technical advice and expertise in the evaluation, purchase, upgrading, and maintenance of resources; researches available products, new technologies and systems and recommends alternatives to meet identified needs.
  • Determines system limitations.
  • Evaluates and recommends the acquisition of upgrades and new tools, products and systems to improve efficiency.
  • Oversees, maintains, and administers operating systems; monitors system operation and performance; provides guidance and instruction to users.
  • Enhances and maintains systems programs to meet ongoing system needs ensuring minimal impact and maximal continuity services.
  • Works on long and short term projects involving systems management to improve operations.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science.
  • Seven years of experience which includes designing and implementing highly complex systems on multiple platforms.
  • A knowledge of and experience with a highly reliable, mission-critical, geographically dispersed production environment.
