Description

The VP of Physician Business and Network Development is a key leadership role responsible for expanding and strengthening the healthcare system's physician network through strategic relationship building, opportunity sourcing, and partnership development. This position plays a crucial role in driving growth and enhancing the organization's market position. The position reports directly to the leadership of the Physician Division of Emory Healthcare via the Senior Vice President for Physician Services and the CFO for the Physician Division with a matrix accountability to the EHC Chief Strategy Officer. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong business acumen, capable of identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to expand and strengthen the healthcare system's physician network.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the healthcare industry and the ability to navigate complex negotiations and partnerships.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Building and Opportunity Sourcing
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with physicians, physician groups, and healthcare organizations in the target market
    • Identify and evaluate potential opportunities for employment, acquisition, or partnership with physicians and healthcare entities
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align network development strategies with organizational goals.
  • Due Diligence and Deal Execution
    • Manage the entire due diligence process from initial sourcing to deal closing
    • Evaluate and present partnership opportunities to leadership for consideration
    • Assist in the development of transaction documents, including Letters of Intent and definitive agreements
    • Coordinate with legal, finance, and operational teams to ensure thorough evaluation of potential deals
  • Network Development and Management
    • Formulate business strategies based on market research and competitor analysis
    • Develop and implement tactics to increase market footprint and strengthen the physician network
    • Monitor industry trends and market conditions to identify new opportunities for growth
  • Operational Handoff and Integration
    • Develop and execute a smooth handoff process to operational teams post-deal closure
    • Collaborate with operational leaders to ensure successful integration of new physicians or entities into the healthcare system

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required, Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare business development, physician recruitment, or related field
  • Proven track record in negotiating and closing complex healthcare transactions
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, reimbursement models, and market dynamics
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams
