Transport Coordinator

Shift: Full-Time 7a-7:30p

Location: Emory Northlake

 

We're seeking an Acute Care Transport Coordinator / Emergency Management responsible for coordinating with capacity command center teams, EMS teams, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to manage transport requests, prioritize urgent cases, and optimize resource utilization. The Acute Care Transport Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and timely transportation of patients between healthcare facilities, homes, and other locations. The individual will:  

  • Experience with emergency dispatch systems and logistics management preferred.
  • The transport coordinator serves as a central point of communication and ensures that all transport operations comply with relevant processes, protocols, and regulations
  • Transport Coordination: Receive, assess, and prioritize incoming transport requests from hospitals, and other medical facilities. Dispatch ambulances and other transport vehicles based on the urgency of the request, patient condition, and availability of resources. Maintain accurate records of all transport requests, transport, and transport system status.
  • Communication: Act as a liaison between EMS teams, capacity command center teams, healthcare providers, patients, and their families to facilitate smooth transport operations. Provide real-time updates to relevant stakeholders on the status of transport requests. Coordinate with other Capacity Command Center staff to address any issues or delays in transport.
  • Resource Management: Monitor and manage the availability of ambulances, transport vehicles, and EMS personnel. Optimize scheduling to ensure maximum efficiency and minimize response times. Assist in the allocation of specialized transport resources for critical or high-risk patients.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all transport operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations and organizational protocols. Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance the safety and effectiveness of transport services.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all transport activities, including patient information, transport routes, and any incidents that occur during transport. Prepare and submit regular reports on transport operations, performance metrics, and any identified areas for improvement. Assist in the analysis of transport data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for optimization
  • Collaboration: Work closely with capacity command center staff, EMS personnel, hospital staff, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient transfers. Collaborate with other departments, including logistics and administration, to support overall operational efficiency. Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and emergency preparedness drills. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree in emergency medical services (EMS), or a related field is preferred
  • Previous experience in EMS, patient transport, or healthcare coordination required.
  • Experience with emergency dispatch systems and logistics management preferred.
  • NREMT Emergency Medical Technician Certification preferred. Georgia EMT License preferred
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well under pressure and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using dispatch software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
