Description

 The regional manager for community engagement leads, creates, plans, executes and evaluates community engagement to support the goals and priorities of the System and operating units strategic and community health improvement plans, including efforts to address health disparities.

 

The manager is embedded in a designated operating unit, serving as a member of its management team and a member of the System Community Engagement Team.

 

The manager has responsibility for community engagement within a defined geography.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Builds and maintains close working relationships with community organizations such as churches, schools, employers, senior centers, civic organizations and other

 

key stakeholders to:

  • Ensure visibility and enhance the reputation of both the operating unit and Emory Healthcare.
  • Identify opportunities for community partnerships to accomplish stated goals.
  • Facilitate connections between community organizations and synergistic initiatives within Emory Healthcare and or Emory University.
  • Develops strategic initiatives to engage the community in support of hospital initiatives, programs or services.
  • Identifies and coordinates community leadership and networking opportunities for OU leadership team to provide increased visibility and engagement in the community.
  • Represents Emory Healthcare on regional health coalitions.
  • Serves on at least one community board or committee.
  • Ensures senior leadership is apprised of issues positive or negative that affect community perception.
  • Evaluates sponsorship requests and recommends course of action.
  • Assists corporate department in managing speakers bureau and employee volunteer program.
  • Plans, implements and evaluates events.
  • With corporate department, facilitates OUs development of three-year Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan.
  • Tracks operating unit community benefit per System guidelines.
  • Coordinates with community engagement colleagues across the University and health system to plan and implement System initiatives.
  • Works with System communications and marketing teams to identify and tell stories that illustrate community benefit.
  • Manages and plans for annual budget for all areas of responsibility.
  • Assists University Office of Government and Community Affairs with issues and opportunities involving government officials and the OU.

 

Staff Resources:

  • Coordinates with other system resources in Community Engagement Financial/Budgeting: Prepares and develops program budget to support defined initiatives.
  • Accountable for monitoring and managing budget. Uses Corporate Marketings CRM technology where possible to determine return on investment for specific initiatives.
  • Professional Development: Works with Corporate Director to formulate professional development plans.
  • Attends educational in-services as appropriate.
  • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices and developments.
  • Other: Performs other related duties and responsibilities as directed by Corporate Director or OU CQO.
  • Community Engagement requires some weekend work so must have flexibility to accommodate occasional weekend work schedule.

 

Qualifications Requirements:

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree and minimum seven years of experience in communications, marketing, community relations, event planning, fundraising or equivalent experience in a not-for-profit institution.
  • Public health experience preferred.

 

Additional Skills:

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Event planning.
  • Strong creative skills to be able to engage various audiences.
  • Must have flexibility to work weekends.
