Description

 The Health System Community Benefit Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring our health systems compliance with IRS 990 Schedule H regulations and effectively communicating our commitment to community benefit.

 

This role is responsible for managing the documentation, reporting, and strategic positioning of our community benefit activities to highlight our positive impact on the community and align with regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Benefit Tracking and Reporting: 
  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking and documenting community benefit activities, including health programs, services, and outreach efforts. 
  • Educate internal stakeholders on the importance of tracking and reporting community benefit
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on community benefit activities and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and community partners.

Storytelling and Communication:

  • Develop compelling narratives and materials to communicate the health systems community benefit efforts and impact.
  • Create content for reports, newsletters, social media, and other communication channels to engage stakeholders and promote transparency.
  • Represent the health system at community events, meetings, and presentations to advocate for and showcase our community benefit activities.

Program Management:

  • Facilitate the Systems Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA)
  • Assist in the development of the Systems Community Health Improvement Plans (CHIP)

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, public health agencies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align community benefit activities with the health systems strategic goals and priorities.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for partnership and collaboration to enhance community health outcomes.
  • Collaborates with Finance department to ensure consistency and accuracy of public reporting

Compliance:

  • Coordinate with Finance on the preparation and submission of IRS 990 Schedule H, ensuring all documentation and reporting requirements are met accurately and on time.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and guidelines related to community benefit reporting and ensure the health systems practices are updated accordingly.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues in community health and benefit management.
  • Manages timely and accurate compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines and standards including Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNAs), Implementation Strategies and IRS Schedule H narrative responses.
  • Collaborates with Legal department to ensure appropriate regulatory reporting on website.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Public Health, Journalism, Communications or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related field
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in seeking out stories and crafting compelling narratives 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices related to community benefit and health promotion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with data management and reporting tools. 
  • Experience in a health care organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM and social media platforms. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
