Description

1. Operations:

  • Directs all aspects of management and ensures the provision of optimum patient flow and placement across Emory Healthcare
  • Oversees hiring, disciplinary action, position allocations, performance reviews, and dismissal recommendations. Maintains minimum staffing levels for operational solvency levels and promotes the growth of staff by providing opportunities for staff development.
  • Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, procedures, strategies, and services for the department 
  • Prepares, develops, and submits department budget to nursing administration for final approval.
  • Monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with fiscal constraints and explains any variances.
  • Directs the allocation of resources within selected areas through planning, budget process, analysis of statistical reports and other pertinent information.
  • Participates in software user groups to recommend enhancements and resolve outstanding issues.

2. Operational Performance:

  • Develop and implement quality assurance mechanisms to meet or exceed established standards of performance, including patient and employee satisfaction.
  • Monitor the overall performance and participation of the patient flow team using appropriate patient flow dashboards and KPIs.

3. Professional Growth:

  • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
  • Provides nursing staff with opportunities to participate in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.

4. Communication:

  • Lead team staff meetings regularly. Responsible for contributing to the departmental comprehensive training program and for the professional development of staff.
  • Collaborates with Command Center and operating unit leadership to address patient flow and placement barriers and create and maintain patient placement and prioritization protocols.
  • Apprise Director of significant developments affecting production and budget goals, etc., and render timely and accurate reports, as required.

Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in nursing required.
  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • Masters degree required Experience: Five years of experience which includes three years of clinical nursing and 2 years of nursing leadership.
  • BLS required. Some jobs in this classification may require ACLS and Healthcare Provider certifications.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using patient flow software and dashboards. Work Environment:
  • This position operates in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • The role may require occasional travel to healthcare facilities.
