Description

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • As an Employee Relations Business Partner in the Advice & Counsel Center, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and collaborative work environment by providing expert guidance on employee relations matters
  • You will be responsible for handling employee concerns, addressing workplace conflicts, and implementing strategies to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction
  • You will work closely with various departments and assigned internal client groups to ensure legal and regulatory compliance, mitigate risks, and support Emory's mission and goals:

1. Employee Relations Management: Act as a primary point of contact for employees seeking guidance on workplace issues, disputes, or conflicts. Investigate and resolve employee complaints, grievances, and disciplinary matters in accordance with Emory policies and applicable laws. Provide advice and support to management in handling complex employee relations issues.

2. Policy Development and Implementation: As appropriate, collaborate with HR leadership and legal teams to develop and update company policies and procedures related to employee relations. Ensure consistent application of policies across the organization and conduct training sessions to educate employees and managers.

3. Conflict Resolution: Mediate conflicts between employees, managers, and teams to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Recommend and implement conflict resolution strategies to prevent recurring issues.

4.Performance Management: Assist in the performance management process, including coaching managers on effective performance conversations, conducting investigations related to performance issues, and recommending appropriate actions.

5. Employee Engagement: Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Conduct surveys, analyze results, and provide recommendations for improvement.

6. Legal Compliance: Stay current with employment laws and regulations, ensuring Emory policies and practices are in compliance. Collaborate with stakeholders to assess, develop, and implement effective compliance and risk management strategies. Work closely with legal counsel to address legal issues related to employee relations.

7. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal clients and act as a trusted advisor on HR and compliance matters. Provide clear and effective communication to convey complex legal issues in a comprehensible manner.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Master's degree or HR certification (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-SCP) is a plus
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in providing employee relations advice, preferably in a corporate or consulting environment
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills
