Overview

The Director, Nondiscrimination in Healthcare Services & Compliance position will dually report to the Emory Healthcare (EHC) Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of Health Equity and will be responsible for performing ongoing activities to ensure compliance with applicable nondiscrimination and access to healthcare services laws, rules, and regulations.

 

This leader will work to create an inclusive environment for all patient populations who seek care at EHC regardless of status, i.e., race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, religion or exercise of conscience.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in a healthcare organization, academic medical setting or complex environment.
  • Masters (MA or MS) in Health Policy, Law, or Administration or Juris Doctorate (JD) degree, preferred.

 

Salary Mid: $122K ; Salary Min: $91K

Description

The Director, Nondiscrimination in Healthcare Services & Compliance position will dually report to the Emory Healthcare (EHC) Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of Health Equity and will be responsible for performing ongoing activities to ensure compliance with applicable nondiscrimination and access to healthcare services laws, rules, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Work collaboratively with leadership on investigating patient-related discrimination allegations and complaints that may be raised by patients and staff members.
  • Responsible for tracking progress, filing all necessary reports, and providing consultative services, as needed.
  • Serves as the principal manager and coordinator for EHC programs, policies, and procedures relating to the promotion of opportunities for persons with disabilities.
  • Develops, tracks, and analyzes, data and metrics to inform EHC leadership of status of risks related to anti-discrimination and access to healthcare services.

 

  • Ensures EHC policies, procedures, and written materials are current and reflective of updates to state and federal laws and regulations as well as best practices relating to nondiscrimination and access to healthcare services.
  • Designs and participates in the development of presentations and training materials for providers and staff on the provision of applicable nondiscrimination regulations and requirements for accommodations.
  • Ensures that EHC polices and information are readily available for access by employees, patients, and the general public.
  • Performs additional departmental compliance and privacy operations-related duties, as assigned.

 

The ideal candidate for this position will possess:

  • Experience leading and coordinating institutional compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of key legislation related to nondiscrimination and disabilities including the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Affordable Care Act - Section 1557 and other relevant federal and state laws.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities requirements:

  • Ability to work on a team and work independently, when needed.
  • Ability to adjust to changing work demands and multi-task. Ability to build relationships, establish collaborative partnerships, and work with a wide range of constituencies with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to lead discussions to consensus.
  • Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
